Halloween Sweets and Treat

With Halloween around the corner, I wanted to share these really great sweets recipes that I have been collecting and planning to create this year, I hope you can find one or two things to inspire you to get baking! halloween treats blog-p0011 halloween treats blog-p0012 halloween treats blog-p0013 halloween treats blog-p0014

So tonight, our family went together to pick out the boys Halloween costumes. I would have loved to have done this sooner in the season because, as most last minute people know, it is slim pickings! However, it is not procrastination on my part, rather my boys change their minds so many times before Halloween that I have in the past, bought up to three costumes each before the big day. I am getting smarter each year and have outwitted them this time…hopefully, but only time will tell!

As the header of this post reads, “Halloween Sweets…and Treat,” I want to share my Friday Freebie as the treat!  It is a Happy Halloween Banner and Party Sign along with a Neighbourhood “BOO-ed” activity.  To download the printables, go to my “freebies” tab on my top menu bar.

Please share this post with your friends or Pin It to help spread the word!

Happy Trick or Treating!

Aloha Hawaiian Luau Party

luau blog post-p001In thinking about posting my niece’s 4th Vintage Cowgirl Birthday party that happened last month, I remembered that I hadn’t yet posted her 3rd Birthday Hawaiian Luau.  Custom designed with my spunky and adorable Mia in mind, the collection is bright and happy and the hibiscus flower as the main design!

luau 1

We assembled the grass cake skirt and it set the tone for the luau candy table.  We hot glue gunned the raffia grass skirt, ribbon and pom poms to a dark wood charger.  It was then placed on a high cake stand…fun and cute!

luau 2 luau 3

Bright and colourful candy kabobs were a quick favourite!  I recommend making these the day of and laying them flat until your guests arrive as the candy will fall the longer gravity has its way!  Also in hindsight, I would use extra long lollipop sticks because they are safer for the kids to be walking around with.

luau 11 luau 12

Birthday girl Mia, welcomed each of her guests with a a friendly ‘aloha’ and a festive lei.  She also send them home with a ‘mahalo’ treat bag to fill with all the party sweets!

luau 22 luau 16luau 15 luau 14

The beautiful cookies were created by Tara of Bambella Cookie Boutique.

A fun activity was the Postcard Photo booth, where the kids could dress up and play with the many props provided.

Back to School

hback to school cover-p001Back to School…this phrase has been a constant for me for most of my life.  Many may not know, but I am was an elementary school teacher.  I do take a few substitute days here and there as I still enjoy the bustle of classroom life and I am not quite ready to give it up entirely.  With my own son entering Kindergarten this year, I have a whole new perspective and feel like the nervous momma bear letting her little cub venture off on his own for the first time.  I know he is excited and eager and well, I am too…just a little sad that he won’t be tugging at my arm at any point in the day to let me know he loves me or that his brother ‘touched him.’

When I created this party package, I was inspired by bright bold colors and cute craft projects.  This theme is young at heart, but it can still please an adult eye with its clean graphic patterns.  It is the ‘I heart School’ Back to school pack, and pardon my pun but it is ‘chalk’ full of fun ideas!

2 3 2

I had some super cute apple cake pops made up by Carmen of Carmen’s Sweet Creations.   They tasted as yummy as they looked!

5 6

C is for Cookies and wow did Evon of Cookievonster create some beautiful back to school edible cookie-art!  There were so many wonderful details to the designs that I just couldn’t bring myself to eat any…well, maybe just one…ok, ok two!

3 18 19

There are some cute take to school printables;  ‘you are so sharp’ would be a great holiday gift for the teacher and/or boys and girls in the class, ‘you are one smart cookie’ is nice to send off in your kiddos lunch kit for the first day of school!

16 12 17 13

Two bookplate designs are great to make sure your child comes home with their books each day, but they can also be used at home for books in the family library too!

11

The party package has A-Z and 1-10 Flashcards,  Preschool to Grade 12 mini pennants, toppers, tags, mini notes to teacher and friends and so much more.  It will have more uses than just the decor for the party you will have, possibilities are as endless as your imagination.  Have fun with it and make it your own!

4 8 9 10 20

Taking pictures of the kids after they have enjoyed the party can be challenging at best.  They are on a blissful sugar high and have no desire to sit and pose, but yes we try anyway.  Here are some funny snapshots of what would seem to be a simple picture!

21 22

I hope all of you and your lil kiddies have a great back to school start to the year ahead.  Be sure to pick up this fun and sweet I heart School package to celebrate this special time!

Vintage Ice Cream Parlour Wedding Table

ice cream blog post-p001

With soft pastels and a punch of red, I created a custom vintage Ice Cream Parlour for my brother in law and his new wife.  I used their initials and called it ‘T&T Original Ice Cream Parlour.’  It was a smash hit with the guests, young and old alike!

1

There were so many personalized details that I worked into this party package design.  These waffle cone sleeves added such a sweet touch and really worked to pull the parlour theme together.

3

I found these adorable syrup jars at the local supermarket and knew that they would look great all dressed up with my food labels…and not to mention, they helped keep the table clean!

2 6

I designed several different style food labels, but my favorite were these straw flag tags.  I used some pretty pastel pink striped straws and glued a mini white jawbreaker to the top to add a finished look.  They looked absolutely fabulous darling ~

7 - Copy 8

The ice cream table worked as a great photo opportunity for Megan Edelman Photograhy to take some very sweet ring pictures!

9 10 11 12 13

The wrappers and cupcake toppers were all coordinated and personalized with the custom monogram logo.  The banner attached to the front of the table also read ‘Love is Sweet.’

14 15

Upon the announcement that the Ice Cream Bar had opened, a flood of guests came hurriedly to create their own special treat!

19 18 17 16 7 4

And so it was, especially for my boys, a dreamy table of colorful and tasty treats. A retro vintage ice cream parlour that will not soon be forgotten!

Love, Laughter and Happily Ever Afters!

Golf Par.Tee Birthday

golf blog post-p001

It was with so much joy and pleasure, that my sister asked me to work with her on my nephew, Mate’s first birthday.  We wanted something preppy and simple and so we decided on the golf par.tee theme.  I hope you enjoy viewing the photos as much as I enjoyed putting it together!

1

The set up of this table is very simple and as you can tell, symmetrical…I am a sucker for symmetry!  When I was researching golf parties on Pinterest, I came across a cake that inspired the one I made.  I liked the idea of the grass top and the hole in one concept.  I used a shot glass to serve as an outline for the hole and frosted all around it and then lifted it off to leave the exposed chocolate cake.  I had never tried this grass frosting technique before, but I have to say it was quite easy and I love how it was carried through onto the cupcakes!

3

I found a local cookie decorator who sells on Etsy, Lexi of Pink Frosting, created some of the cutest golf themed cookies ever.  I asked for some golf scenes, plaid patterns and mini golf balls and wow, did she deliver! To show them off, I placed them in the tall grass which is great to add to the theme and decor.

2 4

All the little guests were asked to visit the ‘pro shop’ to pick up their birthday favor giveaways!  Each child got a set of clubs, a visor and some water.

11 12 13 15 16

As always the favor tags and thank you cards are included in the party package.  Using a coordinating ribbon, I attached the tag to the golf set to make it resemble a price tag for the ‘pro shop’ gift ware.

14

I always think it is best to purchase a table linen that helps coordinate your theme..I often look through the clearance section of the local fabric stores, but for this party I purchased the table clothe at IKEA in their  fabrics department.  Very affordable and I think it really tied the whole table together.

7 5

As I was stringing the name banner to the front of the table, I was trying to think of something to use to hide my safety pins.  It was a totally unplanned detail, but I just love how the golf tees looked tied together to create a finishing touch for the banner.

9 8

There are so many clever play on words that can be used in this theme, I used ‘cup’cakes, irons and woods and ‘club’ sandwiches to name a few.  I used the golf tee again to display the sandwiches.  To further decorate the sandwiches, you could us some of the patterned paper that is included in the party package and wrap the sandwiches first and then pierce with the golf tee.

19 17

The birthday boy, Mate, pronounced m.ah.teh, was one of the happiest little golfers ever!  He is also one of the very few birthday boys that didn’t mind wearing his party hat for an extended period of time.

20

I hope you enjoyed viewing this party feature and possibly learned something new for you to create your own unique party table for your special kidlet!

Woodland Baby Shower Party

woodland shower15Are you ready for some adorable woodsy inspiration?  Well, come take a look at the seriously sweet woodland themed baby shower that Shannon brought to life for her expectant sister’s little man on the way!

woodland shower16 woodland shower26woodland shower25

Every bit of this party was planned to perfection and not a detail was missed.I really like how she assembled the napkin wraps.  Instead of just taping them at the back, she used a ribbon and knotted it on either end, giving them a little bit more of a rustic feel.

woodland shower12 woodland shower13

The table centerpieces are just ~ a d o r a b l e !  Please note, I reserve the expanded spelling for only those times when I am truly inspired and I find her centerpieces i n s p i r i n g.  From the mini pom poms, to the handmade mini bunting, to the cupcake toppers being used for ornaments, to the twine wrapped vase, to the cream ribbon, to the wooden charger…really, this is pretty darn adorable!

woodland shower6

Shannon printed on the back portion of every printable so that every side was pretty to see.  I told you, she did not miss a detail!

woodland shower11 woodland shower56woodland shower33

When I was personalizing her party package, she asked that I leave a set of the favor tags blank because she was planning to use then as place cards.  I thought it was an interesting idea…and here is how the guests found their seats, too cute!

woodland shower38

I do love to use the water bottle wraps on glass bottles and the striped straws are just a nice finishing touch!

woodland shower20 woodland shower46 woodland shower53

Shannon used these wooden charger/plates throughout the party decorations and I think they really added to the woodland theme.  She even created rustic cake platters by placing the wooden plate on top of a tree stump! I have seen the wooden plates at Micheal’s and have honestly wanted to pick them up, but just did not have an occasion coming up that I could use them so I was really happy to see them in this party.

woodland shower51

I just have to share one more picture of the centerpieces…the mini bunting is made with patterned paper that is included in all of my party packages.  She simply cut the papers into mini pennants and glued them to the ribbon.

woodland shower3 woodland shower47 woodland shower41 woodland shower45 woodland shower27

Thank you so much for sharing this fabulous woodland themed baby shower.  I am certain your sister loved it and I wish Blake all the best that life brings!

Princess Safari Party

safari blog post-p001Well, a few months ago, I had a custom request to create a mod safari package in pastel colors.  The very sweet and talented photographer, Amy of A Dazzle Day, was looking to create a special first birthday theme for her daughter, Mia and wow! she definitely did not disappoint!  This party is full of so many whimsical and sweet details, I barely know where to begin, but begin I will…

mia safari24 mia safari36

She designed and created the felt birthday hat, but she also cleverly embellished the patterned party hats created for the package.  It is amazing what simple tissue paper can do to spice up a party hat. Note to self…must try this out!

mia safari32 mia safari31 mia safari23

The party tables were full of so many vintage details, this favor table is just so sweet and ecclectic…lace, burlap, rik rak ribbon, all work together so nicely.

mia safari19 mia safari18 mia safari15 mia safari9 mia safari8 mia safari5

Amy designed and handmade all the felt animals and party hat.

mia safari21 mia safari4

Side note: I have used these lollipops at parties I have thrown and you can find them at Micheal’s.  The thank you stickers and ribbon actually come with the lollipops and make for great and affordable party favors!

mia safari17

How adorable, it really is a beautiful party, but there is much more cuteness to come…

mia safari53 mia safari52 mia safari51 mia safari50 mia safari47 mia safari39 mia safari46   mia safari35mia safari40 mia safari34 mia safari33 mia safari30 mia safari27 mia safari25 mia safari16 mia safari14 mia safari13 mia safari12 mia safari11

I just love those leg warmers and the colorful tutu!

mia safari58 mia safari59 mia safari60 mia safari61

Amy layered the water bottle wrapper with a lace doily, which makes for a vintage look.  I can tell she used a glass Starbucks frappuccino bottle.  Washed and cleaned, they are a great size for the kids birthday parties!  These adorable polka dot straws can be purchased from many sellers on Etsy and really add so much to the look.

mia safari54 mia safari57 mia safari56

The cupcake toppers are backed with coordinating tissue rosettes.  The are very simple to make and I plan to post a tutorial on how to create them sometime in the near future.  Amy used the cupcake wrappers provided in the party package and I think they add are really nice finishing touch!

mia safari45 mia safari44 mia safari43

Just when I thought this momma couldn’t be more talented, I find out she actually made these adorable cookies too.  I am very impressed as I have tried my hand at decorating sugar cookies and it does take a fair bit of skill. Very cute!

mia safari49 mia safari48 mia safari37

Thank you so much for sharing your birthday girl’s very special day with us.  Simply adorable and so much love and care put into each and every detail!

Happy celebrating!

It’s a Pirate’s Life for Luka

pirate blog post-p002

I am so excited to share my son, Luka’s, fifth pirate themed birthday party.  It was so much fun creating the party package, planning the party, styling the day of and of course…

arghh matey! c e l e b r a t i n g !

166153168

My boys have really been into pirates this year and so this party took on a life of its own when they got dressed in costume, waving their swords and swinging their hooks!

257 238 223281

The kids had a table of pirate costume accessories to don and they wore it in such a way that any true pirate would be proud to join their crew!

110 101

When I was designing the party package, I knew I wanted to create a cupcake topper that would look like a mini pirate ship and when assembled and placed together, would look like a fleet.  I was so happy how the “shipcakes” turned out…I used a bamboo skewer because it looks more authentic, then I used a 1/8 hole punch at the top and bottom of the pirate flag sail.  The top flag was the created with one of the straw flag designs included in the party package, taped and trimmed.  So easy and so cute…I mean tough!

085 148

Marshmallow pops are a must at all of my parties, not only for the kids, but my mom loves them too! She must have had at least three, but who’s counting…love you mom!  I drew on the faces with an edible marker I purchased from Micheal’s and dipped the tops into red chocolate wafers that I had melted in the microwave.  They took maybe ten minutes to make, I would really recommend making them for the pirate theme because they are so easy and effective!

067 2 097

I made the cake, yes it was simple, but it is like a large version of my cupcake shipcake.  Same idea in assembling the sail and I finished it with a cute pirate sugar cookie.  There are many designs of cupcake toppers in the package because really what is a party package without cupcake toppers!

072

I have to send some Etsy love on over to Ira of Batches, The Cookie Jar for the adorable and tasty sugar cookies!

137 306 All my party packages come with favor tags and thank you notes. It is a nice way to tie the whole theme together from start to finish.  Our pint sized guests each received the pirate costume goodies and fistfuls of gold! arghhh..chocolate gold coins that is!

003

the blue streamer backdrop  had to be twisted around the railing because as many of you well know, moms can’t control the weather and the wind was a blowing! Just have to go with the flow with these sorts of things.

It really was so much fun celebrating Luka’s fifth and I hope you enjoyed taking a peek into our party life at home.

Donut Shoppe Party

donut blog post-p001

So in my opinion, the next best sweet to cake has to be those fluffy, glazed pieces of dough we call donuts.  Therefore, when I was asked to create a donut shoppe themed party package, I was on board!

421847_411591098854888_100000120038706_1779510_629468108_n

This talented party momma made the adorable clothespin cake topper…so cute!  Perhaps I will be contacting her for my boys next birthday party…

420494_411590972188234_100000120038706_1779506_408410955_n

It’s a modern classic donut shoppe theme design with a pink, turquoise and red color scheme, with a little yellow in for some fun!  I really like how she used both the 2″ circle paper punch and the 2″ flourish punch which gives that pretty scroll edging.

431632_411590938854904_100000120038706_1779505_2120483299_n

How cute are the bags of donut seeds? Using food labels, she easily created candy bag toppers.

419616_411591118854886_100000120038706_1779511_1738132343_n418547_411591042188227_100000120038706_1779508_491428942_n

Thanks so much for sharing Alejandra and happy birthday to your sweet lil donut! All the very best!!
